WAKEBOARDING @ BATAM

As i did mentioned in yesterday's post, i went to wakeboard a few days ago over at Batam island. Thus, still suffering from the aftermath effects of this very strenous water sport. Anything which you can think of, well, i'm suffering from it now, be it from muscle ache to sun burnt. It's really no joke when your whole freaking body is in pain and your face is burning and skin peeling off from it. Aaarrghzz! What to do when there's a price to pay for certain enjoyment in life. Nonetheless, i would still go for more wakeboarding sessions in the near future as it's really worth the efforts.
Actually this was more of a cable ski than the actual wakeboarding as we were being pulled around by the cables instead of the normal scenario whereby the speedboat would be pulling you away. The one similar to the cable ski park over at East Coast. However, cable skiing at Batam was much more cheaper as compared to doing it here in Singapore. Furthermore, lunch and transportation were provided as well in the package thus it was really quite worth the money spent. In addition, the things over in Batam were so much cheaper than in Singapore like the cigarettes and beers for instance. Even the food and drinks there were also bloody cheap. Moreover, there was also a pool table there for us patrons to play for free. Absolutely no charges at all!

Well, went with Ben and a few of his friends (look above) whom were all friendly and out-going guys. Departed from Harbourfront jetty and took a ferry to Batam early in the morning as we did not wanna waste time. Imagined us leaving Singapore at a later time and reaching there in the afternoon. By then, we would only have barely a few hours left to enjoy ourselves. As things went according to plan, we managed to reach the cable ski park by 9am Batam time after the hour long journey by ferry. Anyway, wakeboarding using the cables wasn't as simple as i had mapped it out to be as i kept falling and drinking lots of water in the process. By the way, the water at the cable ski park was of fresh water instead of sea water hence at least it wasn't so bad. Moreover, no matter which area which you fell, all you need to do would be to swim to the nearest side and there would be a guy on a motorcycle coming to pick you up and fetched you back to the main point. This way you wouldn't have to carry your board and walk all the way back yourself.
After repeated attempts of trying to stand and move in the water on my board, i finally managed to do it at 12.30pm though i was still 30 minutes short of Ben's record as he did it at 12pm during the first time which he went there. For your info, this was my first trip there so could be considered quite a success actually. Wakeboarding was still alright though the hardest part was the turning part at the curves. In fact, i reckon knee boarding was much more strenous than wakeboarding as we had to use much more strength to hold onto the handle. In the end, i even managed to join Alex and Ben in doing a triple knee boarding attempt though the outcome wasn't something to be proud of. Haha! As it was my first time hence i did not dare attempt any tricks or stunts but this was also something which i promised myself that i would be doing during my next trip there. After spending close to half a day there, all of us left the cable ski park happily with lots of new added memories but painful body aches, at around 6 in the evening. By then, we were all almost like soldiers that were returning from war when we came back to Singapore. Had a quick dinner at Carl's Jr in Vivo before each going our seperate ways.
All in all, i really enjoyed myself there as it was really a great experience. Something which i would definately be doing much more often in future though like i said at the beginning, there was a price to pay for every enjoyment in life. Anybody, be it guys or gals, who's interested in wakeboarding too after reading this post can always feel free to contact me via my mobile or msn, or drop me an e-mail too if i'm uncontactable as i would be busy at times. Trust me, it's really worth the money and efforts cos the fun which you get is not something which ya able to do everyday. Mark my words. Anyway, the pics below were taken during my time spent over at the cable ski park in Batam.
