X'mas 2006 With My Peeps!!!

I'm supposed to be in Malacca or maybe KL at this very moment but due to certain unfortunate events that took place 2 days ago, thus, am still stucked here in front of my cpu. The only reason that held me back was due to the expiry of my precious little red booklet, which was my passport. *Sob*

Had been looking forward to this trip for a long time as i had a few important tasks to fulfill, one of them being a b'day surprise for a friend of mine. The others were to visit my granny and my cute little nephew Jon and niece Kylie. Had kind of promised the kids that i would be bringing them out to play during CNY but alas, i did not forsee that "thing" to occur. I'm sure many of u guys, unlike the blur "sotong" in me, should know that a passport's validity is only for 10 years. In any case, those that do not know or had long forgotten his/her passport's expiry date and who travels often like yours truely, please do take note of this important thing now. Better prevent it now if u can, lest u wanna suffer the same predicament as me.

I sort of just realised that i had not blogged or posted any pics of the X'mas party which i organised a few months back until a few days ago when my peeps like Joanna, Sharon and a few others suddenly brought this topic up which came to my attention. On hindsight, i was probably busy over the past few months hence might had overlooked this matter.

Although i was busy with my travels during the month of December, i still took the liberty to organise this small little gathering for my peeps. Furthermore, Sharon and a few others had contacted me to sort of ask me to organise this gathering. These days, it's either Sharon or me who's so-called in charge of arranging these kind of gatherings. It's not that the rest were lazy or couldn't be bothered, but just that we sort of took it upon ourselves to plan such activities. Afterall, this group of amazing young individuals were friends of mine for 10 years! Yeah! 10 freaking long years! It's never easy maintaining a friendship, least of all this kind of close bond which we all have for one another.

The date was 22nd December 2006. As i did not wanna took any risk, hence i set it on a Friday evening to kind of play it safe so that everyone could join in the fun cos i reckon that some of them might have their own programmes over the weekend and wouldn't be able to make it. Contrary to belief, i always feel that one or two absentees amongst the group would lessen the spirit of the whole event. The venue this time was --- surprisingly my place. Yup! Yours truely home sweet home. May sound as a shocker to some of u guys who know how strict my mum was on guests coming over to my place. However, this time round was an exception. The reason was not because my mum agreed to it, but more of myself taking the big risk as my mum wasn't in town. Hee Hee. Furthermore, as everything was so last minute hence the easiest way out was to hold a party at my place. Moreover, we were all quite sick of holding our gatherings at restaurants, clubs, pubs etc. Needed something different, something refreshing like this.

I remembered suggesting some ideas like pot luck, cheese and wine or ordering pizza etc. In the end, after discussing with some of them, decided on having steamboat for dinner as most of them would come directly to my place from work hence, the above few ideas wouldn't be appropriate for them. Special thanks to Min for helping me out with the ingredients as she accompanied me to go to the supermarket the day before to shop for the food and also took back certain stuffs to prepare eg. marinate the meat. Another thing which i made sure all of them did was to each bring a present for a x'mas gift exchange. This way everyone would not leave my place empty handed. Ain't i smart? Haha.

Though ALL of them came late, which i was bit annoyed bout, but overall, i've gotta admit that the whole party was a success. I'm pretty sure every single one of them enjoyed the evening at my place. From the steamboat dinner, to the gift exchange to drinking booze and playing around. Everything worked according to plan. Come to think of it, i wasn't that bad a host afterall. Ha!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single one who came that day, though i know that it's wee bit late but still, thanks for turning up. Hope u guys enjoyed yourselves throughly that night. I promised u guys that this kind of gathering wouldn't be the last of it, but instead plenty more to come in future. To Edward, Allen, Herrick, Kenneth, Joanna, Sharon, Lim Min, Su Lin and Celest - THANKS Fellas!!!
