The Past Few Days...

Been a busy past few days for me. Had so many activities going on, that i had no choice but to forgo a few of them. It all started on Friday evening when a few of my friends sort of asked me out to club. Some to zouk, some to MOS blah blah blah. Basically the usual places. As i wasn't in the mood to club, hence declined them. Instead asked around for anyone who was up for the idea to chill.

In the end, i met up with Ben and some of his friends and chilled-out at a small pub in Boat Quay. Though the name i can't really remember already, but it was located on the 2nd level beside Coffeebean. After a few drinks, Joanna texted me and surprisingly she was also at Boat Quay, thus, decided to pop by the place she was at to have a few drinks with her. Afterall, she's just like a sister to me. Furthermore, wanted to check if she was alright. What was supposed to be a hello kind of short time spent over there turned out instead to be an hour or so. Had a few drinks with her and even sang the song "In Love With You" together. She sort of introduced me to a few of her friends, amongst them 1 or 2 babes. Lucky me. Aha! Some of the pics which we took that night below.

Almost everything i did on Saturday was associated with the word soccer. It all started early in the morning when i went to play soccer at Hougang with Willie and his friends. After a few hours under the hot and burning sun, i headed straight home only to leave my place within half an hour. The main reason was cos i sort of wanted to avoid someone who was coming over to my place to "bai nian". Went out with my bro and a few of his friends as i promised to take them to Chijmes to catch the Man Utd vs Liverpool match. Basically, the whole group that day were all Mancunians cept for one Liverpool fan. As it was still a few hours before kick-off, hence went over to Peninsula to look at some football gears. In the end, bought the new pair of Adidas Beckham range boots as i loved the look of it. As it was still quite early after buying my stuff, thus went for a few games of pool at Fusion.

My new pair of Boots

Before making our way to Chijmes, i sort of had the itch to gamble a bit on that match. In the end, i made my way to s'pore pools and bought Man Utd to win. The odds were pretty good at 2.5. If the Red Devils won, i would be a few bucks richer. Ha! Basically bet a small sum just for the fun of it. The atmosphere at Chijmes was everything which i had expected. Afterall, i used to go there for the "big" matches, but it was a first time experience for those kids. Moreover, i had promised them that they would be thrilled by the whole experience which end of the day, luckily they all did.

As we were early, bout 7 plus, hence we managed to get good seats, having one of the best positions throughout the entire place in Chijmes. Slowly but steadily the crowds kept coming in. To be honest, i was a little worried before the match kicked off as i saw quite of number of people in Pool jerseys but just a few in Man U colors. By the way, my bro and me were decked out in United jerseys, like all die-hard supporters of the club. Anyway, once the match went underway, my whole views changed. From the "oohs and the aahs" coming out from the people around me, even a 3 year old kid would know that the main bulk of the crowd there were rooting for the Red Devils to win. It was packed to the house, afterall this was a blockbuster match which had a heated rivalry since ages ago. Even the top levels were filled with plenty of people standing and trying their best to catch a glimpse of the game.

In the end, United just barely edged out Liverpool 1-0, courtesy of a goal from John O'Shea in the dying minutes of the match. To be honest, Liverpool were the better side on that day, and we could really count ourselves lucky that we had Van Der Sar to thank for keeping us in the match with a few top class saves, most notably from Peter Crouch in the latter stages of the match. Furthermore, United were down to 10 men with Scholes being sent off and Rooney injured half-way through the match, so to still be able to snatch a victory from under the noses of the Anfield faithful was really a tremendous achievement. This were the type of matches whereby championships were won.

Well, looking back, i could recall the whole atmosphere when the goal went in. Everyone was standing and jumping around with joy, screaming their lungs out and congratulating one another. You should see the shell-shocked faces of the Liverpool fans. They were all in disbelief that their beloved team had lost the game after dominating for most parts of the match. As for us United fans, we were all living in our own world, hugging, exchanging high-fives and shaking hands with people around us. I remembered someone hugging me from behind when the goal when in. I thought it was Ben at first as he was there with me too, however, to my surprise the guilty party was a caucasian guy who was there with his beautiful gf. He was sitting just behind me hence his natural instinct was to hug any United supporters around him was his explaination. Made friends with him and as it turned out, his dad was a friend of the legendary George Best, that's why he was a United supporter. Guess it ran in the family's blood which was kind of alike to me.

All of us left the place a happy man that night, me being a happy and richer guy too! Haha! A double sucker punch which was simply estatic. Though the bill which we chalked out was a wee bit high that night, but overall, money well spent as the atmosphere there was alike to being in the stadium catching the match itself though not as intensifying. Some pictures which i took that night courtesy of my mobile phone hence the pics weren't that clear and footage of that match.

Sunday was basically a relaxation kind of day for me whereby i had my routine morning soccer with a few of my friends around my area. Was supposed to meet Joanna and Min for shopping in town but the plans were cancelled as Min was not feeling well and Joanna would only be able to meet up with me at a later time. In the end, met up with my mum for some family shopping instead. Though was a quiet Sunday for me, nonetheless, there was still something installed for me at the end of the day. Was i surprised? A little bit of yes and no. Will blogged more bout it tomorrow.
