CHILLING OUT

Just came back home after a day's out "studying" at Suntec Starbucks with the gang. Honestly, i can't really use the word study as we did not really touch our books. What was supposed to be a studying session of Econs that was being organised by Erica turned out more to be a talking cock cum chilling out session, especially between both Val and me. Haha! Overall though, it was abit boring as both Val and me were late and Jeffrey left early. By the time Jack came down to join us, it was already in the nite around 8 hence our usual group spirit was not around today.

I think my life nowadays revolved around chilling out at cafes, pubs and singing karaoke instead of the past whereby i would be clubbing at different places over a few days in a week. Very drastic difference rite? Even i myself was quite surprised of this change as most of my usual clubbing kakis were still hitting places like MOS and Zouk regularly. Guess i've finally grown up! Being more matured in my thinking and probably tired of the idea of clubbing cos i started at a very young age.

A proof to my testament was the activities which i did over the past few days. Went to catch the movie, titled 300 with Eddy on friday, followed by a few games of pool whereby i was THRASHED totally by that asshole. Yup! Asshole! Haha! The both of us headed down to Boat Quay for a few drinks thereafter. Our intention besides wanting a nice cosy place to chill was to look for Joanna but alas, she was probably too busy with her colleagues hence we ended up not seeing each other. In the end, we settled down at my old regular hunt, Color Zone as there were simply too many pubs nowadays in Boay Quay. Speaking of Color Zone, i haven't been there for quite sometime, probably ever since i started hanging out with someone. Though everything still looks the same, however, the personnel had since changed. Everyone whom i used to know was not working there anymore. People like Hazel, Nicole, Jessica etc. Even the boss was different as i was told that the previous boss Jacky, which happened to be my friend, had sold the place and went back to his native country. Though the nite was pretty boring as there were only the two of us guys chilling out with one another, but we still had the occasional laughters and played a few different drinking games. Furthermore, i taught Eddy a few new games like the dice game for instance. I guess the only bright spark that came out from that nite was getting to know this gal Melinda. As for the rest of the details, i would like to keep it to myself. Hush Hush..

Saturday was pretty much the same too. Stayed home in the day to do my assignments. Was supposed to head down to Momo to celebrate Bettina's b'day but cancelled the plans in the end as something unfortunate had happen to her mum. After reading her sms, i decided that it was best not to go as she wouldn't have the mood to celebrate any further. Moreover, she had to leave the premises earlier due to her mum's incident thus, the best way out would be to meet up with her another day and treat her to a belated b'day dinner i guess. Met up with Val and Eugene in the end at Parkway for a few games of pool followed by chilling out at our regular old hunt Mackers. As Eugene and i both wanted to catch the England ve Israel match, hence we went to this place at Tanah Merah to watch the game and have our supper. The world was really quite small as we met up with our classmate Sensi over there, as he was sitting at the table behind us with his cousin. After the boring match, which was pretty disappointing to anyone who had supported England as the game ended in a goaless stalemate, we sat down there, the five of us talking cock and reminicsing our days back when we were in the army, talking bout the trips to Thailand, Taiwan etc. Looking back, our army days were really quite fun except for the regimental part that was the most sucky part overall. By the time i got back home, which was around 7 in the morning, i was so shagged out that i dozed off instantly without washing up. Yucks!

Well, speaking of the movie 300 which i watched on Friday, i would recommend anyone who's having their doubts bout this show to go catch it as it's a really awesome movie. Seriously, i had my doubts bout the show in the beginning as i had never seen the trailer before. Neither was there much publicity of the show. Furthermore, there wasn't any stellar cast in it. All the factors combined together made me sceptical bout the show. In fact, i wanted to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as they were one of my favourite cartoon characters when i was young, but Eddy managed to psycho me to watch that show instead. The rest is history and i'm actually quite glad that i agreed to watch the show. Anyway, the movie 300, based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspired all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy.

After coming out of the theatre, my initial sentiments was something that could be related to our very own Singapore in the future. Anyone who watched the movie would agree with me that one of the reasons why the Spartan soldiers were so dynamic was cos they were trained from a very young age to withstand all these battles, be it physically or mentally. That's why the 300 mere men power could withstand much of the Persian army and even in the process killing thousands of them. Now, look at it this way. What if the Singaporean goverment were to implify this rulling that every boy had to serve their national service from age 7 to 16. Do u not think that the boys, when they leave the army at age 16 to become men would be not mentally prepared to fight a war should the event of our country being attacked by let's say neighbouring Malaysia? I sincerely believed that we would definately be more than a match for any countries, lest the power nations like the US and China for instance even though we were a very small nation. I realised that my thoughts were simply absurbed and foolish thinking but i just want everyone to think carefully whether what i said made sense anot. Of cos, i would strongly object against this kind of ruling should the day ever come as personally, i find being in the army a waste of time. Anyway, just think over what i said. For those of u who haven't catch the show yet, here's a chance to watch the trailer first below. Enjoy guys!
